December, a month typically characterized with general feelings of love and joy, is almost over. Some WA students, however, are not feeling the holiday cheer this vacation.
A group of 12 WA students calling themselves the WA Christmas Crusaders Organization (WACCO) is calling for a boycott of the so-called “holiday” break, claiming that by not calling it “Christmas” break, administration is waging a war on Christmas.
“It’s getting to be ridiculous,” says one incensed student. “It feels like I’m not even allowed to celebrate Christmas in this school anymore. By calling it a ‘holiday’ break instead of ‘Christmas’ break, administration is practically saying that Christmas is illegal. I honestly feel like this qualifies as discrimination. It’s not like there are any other cultures’ holidays in December that deserve recognition.”
In order to force administration to call it “Christmas” break again, WACCO is asking all students and teachers to boycott the week and a half off of school in December. “If they won’t let us in, we will sit outside this building every day from 7:35 AM to 1:55 PM, diligently pretending to work, snow or sun.”
One member of WACCO claimed that “this is administration’s worst attack on the respectable students of this school since they forced the homosexual agenda down our throats with the Day of Silence. Or hung that rainbow flag. God, it was such an attack on my heterosexuality.”
The majority of the student body reacted with disdain, with many saying that WACCO does not understand the true meaning of Christmas. WACCO responded with a heated statement telling them that they “are all heathens who should be banished and/or burned at the stake.”
“I feel bad for them,” said one sympathetic student. “I don’t really understand what they’re going through; I just celebrate Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha, and nobody I know has ever experienced such insensitivity. It must be hard to be discriminated against, especially when Christmas is portrayed in such a negative light by the media.”
WACCO has since invited Donald Trump and the NRA to come to speak on the issue.
